At the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will once again mediate the long-running Bawku dispute from April 28 to May 1, 2025.

This comes after an agreement was made with both crisis parties, indicating a renewed commitment to a long-term solution.

During the next mediation process, the Asantehene urged all parties to collaborate completely, according to a news release from Manhyia Palace.

Reflecting the King’s commitment to stability and national unity, the statement exhorted, “Let us work together in good faith to find a lasting peace in Bawku.”

Otumfuo has long been seen as a representation of impartial and trustworthy leadership due to his involvement in the Bawku dispute.

Given that regional tensions continue to jeopardize social cohesion and security in the Upper East Region, his return to the mediation table comes at a crucial time.

Throughout the mediation, the Palace emphasized the need of communication and respect for one another.

Many Ghanaians and onlookers are still optimistic that the Asantehene’s well-respected position and background in peacebuilding will result in significant advancements in putting a stop to the protracted Bawku conflict.
