Afenyo-Markin is invited by police due to an alleged assault in a viral demonstration video.

The Speaker of Parliament has been formally asked by the Ghana Police Service to free Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin so that he can help with investigations into a video that went viral and purportedly showed the Minority leader attacking a police officer during a recent protest.

A police statement claims that after reviewing multiple video recordings of the incident, the member of parliament must be involved in additional investigation.

As part of the ongoing inquiry, the officer who was reportedly assaulted in the video is also asked to help establish the facts of the case.
