Former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu has made a number of remarks, including claims of corruption against former President John Dramani, which cannot be taken back.
According to Mr. Bonsu, the New Patriotic Party has tarnished John Mahama’s reputation, which will not improve his chances of winning the NDC’s flagbearer election for the general elections of 2024. John Mahama is running to be the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
In an interview with Accra-based Joy FM, Mr. Kojo Bonsu, who is running for NDC flagbearer, stated, “They have said a lot about [John Mahama], they have put corruption tag on him, they have said a whole lot of stuff against him that you can’t even wipe it off, that is where I feel very sad. He has really been tarnished by NPP, and his chances are slim.
The former President’s assessment of Kojo Bonsu’s strength going into the NDC’s internal elections is at odds with the latter’s remarks.
Mr. Mahama stated that out of the three candidates, the NPP is the most terrified by the mere mention of his name.
Earlier in his three-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region, he said, “I wouldn’t have run if I wasn’t confident that my candidates for the NDC presidential position could defeat the NPP and win the 2024 general elections, but we cannot take the risk.” He was speaking to party delegates in Somanya at the time.
I, John Dramani Mahama, am the only person the NPP fears among the NDC members.
“When they [NPP] hear my name, they can’t fall asleep. They have been asking for a new person because of this. Are you the ones to advise us on what to do? You shouldn’t worry about it; I think God has already given us the ability.
