A fresh group of recruits for the Narcotics Control Commission has graduated from the Naval Recruit Training School in Nutekpor in the Volta Region, marking a major turning point in Ghana’s war on illegal drugs.
Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, gave the ceremony’s keynote address and urged the graduating recruits to never waver in their commitment to defending the nation against the drug problem. He also underlined that the recruits’ badge is a symbol of hope and should never be used as a pass to get away with anything.
“Your actions must symbolize justice, compassion, integrity and the resolve that upholds the core values of the Commission.“I implore you to resist corruption, uphold confidentiality, be diligent, and honour the oath enshrined in Section 35 of the Narcotics Control Commission Act of 2020,’ the Minister stated.

He gave the recruits his word that he would do all in his power to help the Commission achieve its goals, including providing the necessary policy guidance and logistical support.
He also praised the instructors and staff for their professionalism, discipline, and selflessness in shaping the recruits into the people they are today.
The graduating recruits have received extensive training in tactical security operations, document fraud detection, drug pharmacology, profiling techniques, and critical intelligence activities.
They are now prepared to face the difficulties of preventing drug usage and trafficking in Ghana.
The Minister encouraged the recruits to step up to the challenge and allow their behavior to demonstrate the strength and fundamental principles of their training as they assume their new jobs.
“Let every citizen feel your presence, your protection, and your resolve to make Ghana great,” he said.
On behalf of the President of the Republic, the Minister congratulated the new hires and wished them well in their new workplace.
“Go forth with purpose, serve with honour, and never forget that when you protect our motherland from drugs, you protect her future,” Hon. Muntaka stated.
Ghana’s battle against illegal drugs has advanced significantly with the graduation ceremony, and the recruits are anticipated to be crucial to the nation’s efforts to counter the threat.
High-ranking government officials and security officers attended the passing-out event, which was the end of the recruits’ rigorous six-month training.
