On Thursday, prospective couples and their families came to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to finalize the procedures necessary for their civil marriages, and the city’s mayor, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, engaged with them.
The engagement was a component of the Mayor’s regular early-morning visits to different Assembly offices in order to track attendance, motivate employees, and evaluate the quality of services provided.
Before reaching the Marriage Registry, the Mayor went through a number of departments with the help of the Coordinating Director, the Head of Public Affairs, and Mr. Douglas Annoful, the Finance Director.

The Mayor welcomed those awaiting a call to turn in their paperwork and arrange their marriage ceremonies at the Registry, congratulated them on taking the required legal actions to formally establish their unions, and reassured them of the Assembly’s dedication to offering prompt, courteous services.
The Marriage Registry continued to be one of the most visited offices, and public satisfaction was crucial to enhancing the Assembly’s reputation. Mayor Allotey also reminded Registry officers of the value of maintaining professionalism and making sure all clients received prompt assistance.
He also took advantage of the occasion to urge the public to use the Assembly’s services, stating that they were reputable, open, and effective and that they supported the legal and social importance of marriage.
The visit is a component of the Mayor’s larger initiatives to show leadership in important service areas and encourage a culture of accountability and responsiveness among employees.
