Former President John Mahama has insisted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) must be together following the primaries on May 13, 2023.
The largest opposition party is holding internal elections to choose a presidential candidate and parliamentary candidates for the 2024 elections.
Both as a candidate and as president, Mr. Mahama wants to make a return.
As part of his campaign tour, the former president declared to party members and delegates in Bimbilla, Northern Region, “Everyone has their supporters; there’s no point in saying this person supported the winning team, so we will stay aside.”
“We are all NDC. After the primaries, let’s support one another, he pleaded.
As the incumbent president in 2016 and the opposition candidate in the 2020 elections, Mr. Mahama was defeated.
Mr. Mahama has one more term left under Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, which limits the presidency to two terms.
