The Ghanaian Parliament has ratified accords that exempt holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports from the need for a visa to enter Mozambique, Sao Tome & Principe, Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Dominica.
As he presented the reports on the House floor, Hon. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Committee, pointed out that the agreements’ goals are to encourage trade, tourism, agriculture, energy, education, and other important multilateral partnerships.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, informed the House that no direct or immediate revenue losses are expected as a result of the Agreements’ implementation.
Nonetheless, he believed that the visa waiver agreements would help boost bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, tourism, and other areas, which would improve the participating nations’ socioeconomic standing in the long run.
