Several people, including foreigners suspected of participating in illegal mining (galamsey) activities, were arrested during a successful search of a mining site in the Bole area by the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat (NAIMOS).

The government’s continuous efforts to combat galamsey and safeguard the nation’s waterways and forest reserves included the operation, according to a statement from NAIMOS.

Excavators and pump-action pistols were among the mining equipment seized as a result of the operation, according to the statement.

According to the statement, the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Armed Forces have increased operations in many command centers as part of the government’s reaffirmed commitment to fighting illegal mining.

It stated that the government would continue to crack down on galamsey and that the NAIMOS operation in the Bole district serves as a warning to those involved in illegal mining activities.

“These efforts aim to safeguard the country’s natural resources and protect the environment,” the statement said.
