The Republic of Ghana celebrated the Second Edition of the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the State House forecourt in Accra, yesterday, Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

“Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want” was the theme of the Thanksgiving service.

In his speech, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, clarified that the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service is more than just a ceremony; it gives Ghanaians a chance to stop, think, recognise God’s goodness, reaffirm their faith, and recommit to creating a more powerful and cohesive nation.

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama described faith as one of the fundamental cornerstones of Ghana’s identity and emphasised the country’s historical reliance on God during times of victory and hardship.

He highlighted that government policies alone cannot bring about Ghana’s development.

The President continued to be upbeat, saying that the country’s recent successes show what is possible when people have faith in God, practise competent leadership, and maintain discipline.

Members of the Council of State, members of Parliament, representatives from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), representatives from Regional Coordinating Councils and Regional Support Institutions, members of Christian and Muslim ecumenical organisations, clergy, representatives from the Security Services, members of the National Planning Committee, and Traditional Authorities were among those who attended the ceremony.
