GNFS Rescues Trapped Road Crash Victim

One man was found trapped inside the Kia Rio. Firefighters used specialised vehicle extrication equipment to safely free the casualty from the damaged vehicle.

The rescued man was subsequently transported to Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the Ford F-150 was attempting to overtake when it collided with the rear of the Kia Rio.

The impact caused extensive damage to the Ford F-150, while the Kia Rio sustained partial damage.

GNFS Recovers Cash and Personal Belongings

During the rescue operation, firefighters also recovered and secured several valuable items from the accident scene.

The items included GH¢50,000 in cash, US$5,231.81, mobile phones, power banks, National Identification Cards and other personal belongings.

Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded in the road crash.

GNFS Warns Drivers Against Wrongful Overtaking

The Ghana National Fire Service has attributed the preliminary cause of the accident to wrongful overtaking.

The GNFS has therefore urged motorists to exercise greater caution on the roads and strictly observe road safety regulations, particularly when overtaking on highways.

Drivers are encouraged to maintain safe speeds, ensure clear visibility before overtaking and remain alert to other road users to help prevent road accidents in Ghana.
