At a press conference on Monday, August 4, 2025, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) announced the distribution of cash nationally under the 97th cycle of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Program.
Since the payment of top-up arrears from the previous cycle is included, this cycle is important. The Ministry implemented a 25% increase in the LEAP award for the 96th payment round in June 2025 as part of a larger inflation indexation mechanism.
For May and June 2025, the 97th cycle thus covers both the usual bi-monthly stipend and the associated arrears.

Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey publicly announced the start of the disbursement while speaking to the media. She revealed that the government has released GH₵150,162,434.00 in total to facilitate payments to 350,580 homes, which equates to almost 1,555,677 people nationwide.
The 97th payment cycle, according to the Sector Minister, is more than just a cash distribution; it is a representation of the Ministry’s dedication to restoring dignity, safeguarding livelihoods, and providing hope to those who are most in need in our society.
The Hon. Minister further emphasized that the Ministry is currently updating and validating beneficiary data in order to improve targeting and inclusion, in partnership with the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR).
Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to enhancing Ghanaians’ quality of life and creating a society in which all people have an equal opportunity to thrive, led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
The following is the grant amount for the 97th cycle, which includes top-up arrears from the 96th cycle:
• One-member household: GH₵320 (97th payment) + GH₵64 (arrears) = GH₵384
• Two-member household: GH₵380 (97th payment) + GH₵76 (arrears) = GH₵456
• Three-member household: GH₵440 (97th payment) + GH₵88 (arrears) = GH₵528
• Four-or-more-member household: GH₵530 (97th payment) + GH₵106 (arrears) = GH₵636
The Hon. Minister so conveyed his appreciation to the development partners who are essential to the program’s successful implementation.
In order to keep an eye on how the financial grant is being distributed to LEAP recipients, she asked the public and media.
Through the promotion of human capital development and sustained consumption support, the LEAP program seeks to lessen poverty and vulnerability.
In order to be eligible for LEAP, families must have a high level of poverty and vulnerable members, such as orphans and vulnerable children, elderly people (65 years of age and older) who are unsupported, people with severe disabilities, pregnant women in extreme poverty, and nursing moms with children under a year old.
