Sarah Adwoa Safo, a former member of parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, has denied that the conflict surrounding the Kristo Asafo Mission is about inheritance or aspirations for church leadership, stating that her sole goal is to respect the last wishes of her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

Following what she claimed as an assassination attempt on her life on June 21, Ms. Safo said in a statement released on Friday, July 3, 2026, that public conjecture had misconstrued the issues at the heart of the conflict.

“The matter at hand is neither about any aspiration on my part to lead the Kristo Asafo Church, nor does it concern a dispute over church property or, for that matter, inheritance,” she stated.

Ms. Safo described herself as “self-made” and dedicated to a life of integrity and independence, claiming that she had never pursued personal wealth or financial gain from her late father’s fortune.

“I have never sought to draw wealth or personal gain from my late father’s estate or properties, but have for many years, even before the passing of our dear dad, chosen to walk a path defined by integrity, contentment, independence and self-determined effort,” she said.

She claims that the main point of contention is the 2024 adoption of changes to the church’s constitution that Apostle Kwadwo Safo ordered.

She said that in February 2025, she was appointed head of the Kantanka family after Israel Kwadwo Safo was ousted from her position as the church’s leader by the amended constitution.

“On his death bed, my dad instructed me to ensure that this provision was expressly upheld, and I consider it my duty and responsibility to honour that directive as his first child,” she stated.

Ms Safo also denied assertions that her father’s estate lacked legal direction, noting that he left a legitimate will directing the administration of his estate.

“It is also important to state clearly that my dad did not die intestate. He left a valid Will, which I believe sets out definitive provisions for the administration of his estate, including his properties and inheritance, all of which will be properly addressed and given effect upon the formal reading and execution of same,” she stated.

The former lawmaker reaffirmed her commitment to carrying out what she described as her father’s final intentions and stated that her first priority was to secure justice for her late father, her family, and the Kristo Asafo Church.
