The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has been given seven days by Evatex Logistics Limited to reverse the termination of its revenue assurance contract or risk legal action.
In response to a notice of termination sent by GACL on August 1, the company, through its legal and management consultants, K-Archy, stated that it believes the action was made in bad faith, without cause, and without reasonable justification.
Evatex was given instructions by GACL Managing Director Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare in the letter to demobilize and leave the cargo area of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by August 27, 2025.
Since Evatex started operating in the cargo area, there has apparently been no evidence of revenue concealment or recovery, which led to the termination and no payments to the corporation.
Evatex, however, expressed surprise in a strongly worded letter dated Monday, July 28, stating that it had already started work, sent in reports for action, and made capital investments of US$64.6 million in infrastructure specifically designed for GACL.
“Our client considers the intention to terminate the said contract as actuated by bad faith and unreasonableness.”
“The purported termination is unacceptable. Given the foregoing, and in the spirit of seeking an amicable settlement, our client instructs us to inform you to withdraw the said letter within seven days of receipt, or we shall be compelled to institute legal action to recover the capital investments and seek other relief.”
The Office of the Special Prosecutor is currently investigating Evatex’s contract after learning that it is associated with Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML), a business embroiled in controversy over multi-million dollar revenue assurance agreements with the Ghana Revenue Authority and the Ministry of Finance.
On Thursday, July 31, 2025, Paul Adom-Otchere, the former board chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), was invited by the Office of the Special Prosecutor and placed under arrest in relation to an ongoing inquiry into a contract that was given during his tenure.
