Ali Adolf John, the Northern Regional Minister, has said that tomorrow, Thursday, August 7, 2025, the lifeless remains of Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Murtala, the late Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, will be airlifted to Tamale for Islamic burial.
The Minister officially delivered the heartbreaking news of the deceased National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Tamale Central constituency’s death in the tragic military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region to the family on Wednesday afternoon, August 6, 2025.
The Regional Minister told the family about the tragic event in a somber manner and told them that the government would be transporting the body from the Accra morgue to Tamale tomorrow for burial.
Ali John further promised that the government would provide the late MP with a respectable and respectful funeral.
The congressman was one of eight government officials who perished in the horrific incident, along with Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the nation’s minister of defense.
The Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna; former NDC Parliamentary Candidate Samuel Aboagye; and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong are also reported to have been killed in the crash.
Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala make up the crew.
