DNA samples from victims of helicopter crashes are sent to South Africa for analysis.

To help identify each of the eight victims of the military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 06, 2025, samples of their remains have been taken to South Africa for DNA analysis in order to give them a proper burial.

The samples were flown out for the DNA test on Thursday, August 7, 2025, and a government delegation joined them.

The delegation, IGP, CID chairman, and a few ministers joined in a prayer before the plane took off to carry the samples.

Forensic analysis in South Africa was conducted under the direction of the Criminal Investigations Department’s Head of Forensic Analysis.

Speaking to the media, Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak remarked, “We want to sincerely thank the families for all the cooperation they have shown.” It goes beyond burying the past and attempting to prove what transpired in order to stop it from happening again.

He promised that the administration will put in endless effort to expedite the incident’s probe.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Presidency’s Ceremonial Gardens on Thursday, August 7, 2025, as part of the government’s announcement of a three-day nationwide mourning for the deaths.

The government officials were traveling to a national event when the disaster happened at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, the acting deputy national security coordinator, and Mr. Samuel Aboagye, the national vice chairman of the ruling NDC, were among the other individuals that perished.

Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Flight Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala were the military officers involved.
