New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters, including Salam Mustapha, the party’s National Youth Organiser, have assembled at the Accra Police Headquarters to protest the arrest and detention of three other people, including social media personality Daniel Adomako, also known as Sir Obama Pokuase.
An alleged spread of pictures purporting to show people openly brandishing illegally obtained firearms is connected to the arrest.
The Ghana Police Service claims that Mr. Adomako was captured as part of an ongoing intelligence-led campaign against unlawful gun ownership in a coordinated operation with other security forces.
A sizable cache of illegal weapons and ammunition has been recovered thus far in this operation, which has been going on for a few weeks.
