The Ashanti Region’s Manso-Adubia-based Anti-Galamsey Task Force seized another excavator Tuesday, increasing the total number of seized machines to three in a week.
The Task Force, under the command of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bawah Abdul Jalil, confiscated two excavators at Dwendwenase on August 22, 2025, after receiving information indicating that certain Chinese nationals were mining illegally in the Forest Reserve.
The third excavator was seized on August 26 at Adobewura, a neighborhood of Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District, by the same Task Force, which was still conducting an operation with 45 police officers.
When the Task Force got there, the illegal miners had left the area. At the mining site, however, it was found that an excavator was in operation.
The apparatus was seized, placed on a low bed carrier, and taken to a base at Manso Adubia for storage and additional examination.
The Task Force noted that illegal miners working in Manso-Adubia and the neighboring territories used Tuesday as a day off, according to a police statement released on Thursday.
“Taking advantage of this pattern, the task force strategically selected this day to conduct operations in areas alleged to be heavily involved in illegal mining,” the statement said.
