The Honorable Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, has advocated for the marketing of technical education as a compelling substitute for conventional academic courses.
During yesterday’s inauguration of the Accra Technical University’s (ATU) 19-member board, Hon. Iddrisu made the call.
The idea that technical education is a “reserve” for those who are less academically inclined or as a backup plan should be dispelled, he warned Ghanaians.
Honourable Haruna Iddrisu
According to the minister, technical education needs to be acknowledged as a top option that gives youth useful, marketable skills.
He gave the recently appointed board the task of spearheading initiatives to improve industry connections and change public opinion in order to increase the appeal of technical education to young people.
