A man from Togo has been extradited to Ghana to face accusations related to a series of violent robberies that allegedly took place in several locations of Accra.
Following months of collaboration between Ghanaian and Togolese police, Adinda Abdu Mujibu, also known as Adinda Akpo Abdo, was turned up to Ghanaian authorities in Lomé on May 14, 2025.
With assistance from Interpol, the operation was conducted in accordance with the 2003 agreement of the West African Police Chiefs Committee.
To finish the transfer, a five-person team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), flew to the capital of Togo on a military plane.
In front of Ghana Embassy employees, Togolese authorities under the command of Commissaire Principal de Police Asi Elu-Ani turned over the suspect.
Between 2022 and 2024, a group lead by the suspect Mujibu is thought to have committed a number of robberies in East Legon, Cantonments, Ridge, Tesano, Airport Residential Area, and Adjiriganor.
After CCTV evidence of a guy thought to be him was widely shared online, the public became alarmed and the search for his arrest was stepped up.
According to reports, he went by a number of aliases, including Dawa, Papa Rich, Maxwell, and Rashid Bawa. After barely avoiding capture during an operation, police claim he left Ghana in 2023 and was subsequently discovered to be in possession of both Ghanaian and Togolese identification credentials.
On September 5, 2024, the Adabraka District Court issued an arrest warrant and an Interpol Red Notice.
On January 10, 2025, he was finally taken into custody in Lomé.
On May 17, 2025, DCOP Donkor revealed that Mujibu is being held in a secure facility during a news event in Accra.
She informed reporters that “he is in a place where there is no way he’s going to escape under any circumstances.”
DCOP Donkor also disclosed that Alidu Marzouk, another suspect who is thought to be an accomplice, was taken into prison on September 4, 2024.
She said victims are being contacted to help gather evidence, but she would not elaborate further because of ongoing investigations.
She cautioned other individuals remaining at large and asked the public to report any suspicious conduct.
She declared, “We know where you are, and we are coming for you.”
She expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian Embassy in Togo, Interpol Lomé, and the Togo National Police for helping to make the extradition possible.
