David Essien, a superintendent with the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), testified before the Accra High Court that Aisha Huang obtained an indefinite residency status by using a falsified marriage certificate.

The application that resulted in the issuance of the permission allegedly included a fake Ghanaian passport.

According to Supt. Essien, the Immigration Service decided to cancel her visa and send her back home after learning about this circumstance.

How Aisha Huang departed Ghana in 2018 is still a contentious topic. She fled the nation, state prosecutors previously testified before the Accra Circuit Court.

This was the opposite of what a government representative had said.

Yaw Osafo Marfo, a former senior minister, claimed that it was done to facilitate a business deal with the Chinese government.

In the case where the Chinese national is charged with engaging in unlawful mining, Supt. Essien is the second witness for the Attorney General.

He began by informing the court that he had been requested to look into the defendant after reading about him on Myjoyonline.com and another news website.

According to the tales he told, the Chinese national was the target of significant suspicions of illicit mining. According to Supt. Essien, he was ordered to investigate the charge and her immigration status as well as the local context.

He disclosed that he had learned she had a permit to remain there indefinitely. Aisha Huang Nkrabeah Effah Dartey’s lead attorney questioned the immigration officer during cross-examination to find out if his investigation exclusively focused on her immigration status.

Supt. Essien said that it disturbed him and the accusations of illicit mining.

The following information about her return was then provided by him.

“When we looked at the passport, we discovered that she had been issued an indefinite residency visa based on her alleged union with Anthony Fabian, a Ghanaian.

Investigations by the GIS, however, revealed that the accused supported her application for the indefinite residence visa with a forged marriage document and a forged ghana passport.

The Comptroller-General acted in compliance and cancelled the indefinite residency permit on the grounds of fraudulent deception, which caused her repartition on December 19, 2018.

After consulting with his client, Mr. Dartey told the court he would resume his cross-examining the witness.

It’s important to note that there was some debate before the trial even started on Monday.

Aisha Huang informed the Court that the interpreter assigned to help her was incomprehensible. To proceed with that work, a different interpreter was called.

On Tuesday, November 15, the case will return to court.
