Samuel Okudzteo Ablakwa, a North Tongu member of parliament, claims that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo merely provided the impression of cutting costs by dissolving the Ministry of Special Development Initiative (SDI), but in fact he did not.
He said that President Akufo-Addo increased the budget for the SDI Secretariat from GHS 1,000,000 in 2020 to GHS 358,000,000 in 2021.

He wrote in the tweet above, “How President Akufo-Addo increased expenditure on compensation for the Special Development Initiatives (SDI) Secretariat at the Presidency from less than GHS1 million in 2020 to over GHS358 million in 2021 after he disbanded the SDI Ministry creating the impression he was cutting costs.”
One of the Ministries President Akufo-Addo eliminated was the SDI Ministry.
According to the announcement, “the president is realigning these special-purpose ministries since they have all accomplished the goals for which they were founded.
