According to Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, every member of the New Patriotic Caucus in Parliament wants Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta removed from his position.

The Suame MP claimed following a recent meeting that the whole caucus now supports calls for the resignation or dismissal of the Finance Minister.

Despite the fact that the matter was first raised by a group of more than 80 people, the caucus meeting supported their choice.

“As a result, the 80+ group’s cause is no longer the issue. To journalists in Parliament, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu added, “It is the agenda for the entire caucus.

Eighty majority MPs asked this week that Charles Adu Boahene, the finance ministry’s minister of state, and Ofori-Atta, the minister of finance, be fired.

The timing of the NPP MPs’ call for the Finance Minister to be fired was initially criticized by Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu because Ghana is now applying for IMF assistance.

President Akufo-Addo asked the MPs to wait until Ghana finished talks with the IMF in response to appeals from members of his own party.

President Akufo-Addo has previously rejected calls for Ken Ofori-Atta to be dismissed and declared that he would continue to support Mr. Ofori-Atta.

A proposal calling for a vote of censure against Ken Ofori-Atta as finance minister has the support of all minority party members.

The minority mentioned, among other things, the economy’s general mismanagement and ethical issues.
