Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has been ordered by the Accra High Court to testify in open court during the prosecution of former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi.

However, Anas was permitted to present a different identity during his evidence by the court, which was presided over by Justice Marie Louise Simmons.

Again, in accordance with the court’s decision, Mr. Nyantakyi will have the chance to meet Anas in private before he testifies in public.

Yesterday, Justice Simmons made the decision in response to the prosecution’s request for Anas to testify behind closed doors.

Mr. Nyantakyi’s attorneys opposed the application and urged the judge to allow Anas to testify in open court while having his face visible rather than grant his request.

Justice Simmons allowed the application in part in her decision from yesterday [May 17, 2023] and stated that since Anas had been observed in public using his beads as a mask, there was no issue with him testifying in public while wearing his beads mask.
