The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will officially introduce legend Asamoah Gyan as an Ambassador on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at a special ceremony at Accra’s Pelican Hotel.
The purpose of the event, which is set to start at 7:00 PM, is to honour Gyan’s services to Ghanaian football while utilising his influence to generate excitement before to the Black Stars’ June 2026 FIFA World Cup participation.
Gyan is still one of the most well-known figures in African football and is Ghana’s all-time top goal scorer with 51 international goals. Leading the Black Stars to the World Cup in 2014, competing in the competition in 2006 and 2010, and scoring Ghana’s first-ever World Cup goal against the Czech Republic in 2006 are among his career accomplishments.
His leadership and enthusiasm for the national team have never been questioned, even though his last-minute penalty miss against Uruguay in 2010 is still regarded as one of the most dramatic moments in World Cup history.
In order to unite Ghanaians behind the Black Stars when they travel to North America for the 2026 tournament, he will be in charge of promotional activities, engagements, and corporate collaborations.
In addition, he will advocate for Colts football and national teams while representing the GFA at formal gatherings.
Key football stakeholders, past teammates, business partners, and members of the media are anticipated to attend the ceremony on Wednesday at the Pelican Hotel.
