The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has declared an end to the various internal campaign camps within the party following the successful conclusion of the NPP National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.
Speaking to delegates at the close of the conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Dr Bawumia congratulated the newly elected national executives, led by newly elected NPP National Chairman John Boadu, and called on all party members to unite behind a common goal ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Dr Bawumia stressed that the outcome of the internal elections should be viewed as a collective victory for the New Patriotic Party rather than a triumph for individual candidates or factions.
Bawumia Calls for One United NPP
The NPP presidential candidate urged party members to immediately put the internal elections behind them and focus on the task of winning the 2028 elections.
“There is no time to waste,” Dr Bawumia told delegates, stressing that the various campaign camps must now dissolve and make way for a united NPP.
He called for all members to work together under one party structure and pursue a common objective of returning the NPP to government in 2028.
Defeated NPP Aspirants to Be Included in 2028 Campaign
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also assured aspirants who lost in the NPP national executive elections that they would not be sidelined.
According to the NPP flagbearer, defeated candidates and their supporters will be fully integrated into the party’s strategy and campaign activities as the NPP prepares for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He said the message from NPP delegates is clear: the party must unite, reorganise and work towards regaining political power.
Bawumia Challenges NPP Members to Work Harder
Acknowledging the scale of the task ahead, Dr Bawumia cautioned NPP supporters that winning the 2028 general elections would require significant commitment and hard work.
He therefore challenged party members to work even harder than they did during the NPP’s successful election campaigns in 2000 and 2016.
The call for unity comes as the NPP completes its internal reorganisation and begins preparations for the 2028 Ghana elections, with John Boadu and the newly elected national executives expected to lead the party’s organisational efforts.
Dr Bawumia said the priority must now be to build a united, disciplined and effective NPP capable of mobilising its grassroots and securing victory in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
