Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, has emphasized his commitment to advancing Ghana’s development and prosperity while claiming his independent vision and leadership.

During his victory address after being named the NPP presidential primary winner, Dr. Bawumia said he imagined Ghana as a country that leads the world in international relations.

Dr. Bawumia made it plain that if he wins the presidency in the 2024 elections, he will use his original concepts and methods to progress the country.

In an effort to pursue further advancement for the party and the country, he urged everyone to unite behind him.

“My vision is to build an inclusive, food-self-sufficient, data-driven, and systems-based nation that will fully participate in the global digital revolution to resolve our problems and usher in a golden age of benefits from our national resources.” he said

According to the official results of the NPP presidential primary, Dr. Bawumia earned 61.47% of the vote, compared to Mr. Agyapong, who came in second with 37.41%. With 0.76% of the vote, Dr. Afriyie Akoto finished far behind Addai-Nimoh, who received 0.41%.

With his win, Dr. Bawumia becomes the first non-Akan leader of the NPP into a general election. He has been President Akufo-Addo’s running mate since 2008.
