Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia now outperforms other prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates when compared to the top four members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), according to pollster and Executive Director of independent research firm Global InfoAnalytics Mussa Dankwa.
Speaking on the AM Show, Mr. Dankwa revealed results from the company’s most recent survey conducted in December, which examined a number of potential presidential matchups in advance of the general elections in 2028.
He claims that the data demonstrates that, when compared to possible NDC candidates, Dr. Bawumia continually records higher numbers than Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, regardless of whatever NPP flagbearer is chosen.
“If you flip the coin and assume the NPP elects Kennedy, and you pitch him against the NDC’s top four, the numbers show the NDC candidate going up to about 61 or 62 per cent, while Kennedy sits around 34 per cent,” he explained.
According to Mr. Dankwa, when Kennedy Agyapong was compared to several NDC figures, comparable trends showed up. Asiedu-Nketiah received 57% of the vote against one NDC candidate, while Kennedy received 38%. In another scenario, Julius Debrah received 53% and Kennedy received 41%.
“These are the scenarios we ran in the December polling that has just been released. And in all of them, Bawumia is doing better. That’s the data at the moment,” he said.
Mr. Dankwa emphasised that the current data provides an early view of how voters may react to various flagbearer alternatives, highlighting the significance of making strategic decisions ahead of future elections, even though he cautioned that political factors might change over time.
