Mr. Ian Greenstreet, the CEO of Ghana International Bank (GHIB), has reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to working with the government to bolster Ghana’s export industry and promote economic expansion.

On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Accra, Mr. Greenstreet led a delegation from Ghana International Bank to make a courtesy call on Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.

In her speech, the Hon. Minister emphasised the government’s initiatives to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), value addition, and agro-processing.

She urged the bank to find effective small firms who need funding to expand their operations as well as companies that are market-oriented, export-ready, and capable of having a big impact.

In addition to supporting Ghana’s industrialisation strategy, she pointed out that investing in profitable companies with significant development potential will ensure long-term returns on investment for the bank.

Hon. Ofosu-Adjare also revealed that the Ekumfi Juice Factory would shortly receive more government assistance to grow its business, process more pineapples and pawpaw, increase Ghana’s export potential, and improve the nation’s reputation internationally, especially in the UK market.

The Hon. Minister also called on Ghana International Bank to think about making investments in the cashew and cocoa industries, characterising them as potential fields with substantial development and financing prospects.

“Let us work together to support small companies that have approached us and have demonstrated resilience over time through your financial support,” she said.

In the upcoming year, she continued, the government will focus more on the oil palm industry, and two more cashew processing facilities are anticipated to be built.

“I believe agro-processing is a good area for you to invest,” the Minister emphasised.

In response, Mr. Ian Greenstreet, the CEO of GHIB, stated that the engagement between the bank, the Ministry, and its agency, the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM), would promote strategic cooperation with the goal of bolstering Ghana’s export industry.

According to him, the partnership would boost economic growth, encourage Ghanaian businesses, and increase international business prospects.
