The Development Bank Ghana (DBG) has provided more than GH¢2.5 billion in financing to businesses across the country since its establishment, supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and key sectors of Ghana’s economy.
Chief Executive Officer of DBG, Prof. Randolph Nsor-Ambala, disclosed that nearly half of the businesses that have benefited from the bank’s funding are located outside the Greater Accra Region, highlighting DBG’s efforts to promote inclusive economic development across Ghana.
According to Prof. Nsor-Ambala, the bank’s business financing programmes are strategically focused on sectors that are essential to Ghana’s economic transformation. DBG has so far supported almost 1,000 businesses nationwide through its financing interventions.
A significant portion of the funding has also been directed towards women entrepreneurs, with more than 60% of DBG’s financing going to women-led and women-owned businesses. This support is aimed at improving access to finance and creating opportunities for women to expand their enterprises.
Prof. Nsor-Ambala further revealed that more than half of the bank’s disbursements have been channelled into agribusiness, agriculture and manufacturing—sectors considered critical for job creation, industrial growth, food security and sustainable economic development.
The latest figures underline the role of Development Bank Ghana in supporting SMEs, promoting private-sector growth and expanding access to affordable business financing across the country.
