Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has disclosed that the government has paid GH¢24.8 billion into statutory funds since January 2026 to support education, healthcare, road infrastructure and local development.

According to the Finance Minister, the payments are aimed at ensuring that statutory funds receive the financial resources needed to deliver essential public services and fulfil their legally mandated responsibilities.

Dr. Ato Forson explained that, unlike previous periods when statutory fund disbursements were affected by delays, payment caps and accumulated arrears, the government is now releasing the funds fully and on schedule.

The move is expected to strengthen public service delivery, improve funding for schools and healthcare facilities, support road construction and maintenance, and promote development across local communities.

The Finance Minister emphasised that the timely release of statutory funds is important for ensuring that public institutions have the resources required to carry out their duties and improve the welfare of Ghanaians.

The GH¢24.8 billion payment highlights the government’s approach to statutory fund management, public financial administration and the financing of key national development priorities.
