Charles Bissue, a former presidential staffer in the previous administration, has been brought before the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for alleged corruption.

Bissue, who served as the secretary of the now-defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCM), is accused of a number of offenses, including using public office for personal gain and corruption by a public official.

The OSP has accused Bissue of collecting GH¢35,000 from Benjamin Adjapong “for the purpose of circumventing established requirements of the IMCM in respect of verification of documents” for the renewal of a mining license by exploiting his position as Secretary of the IMCM.

A man named Andy Thomas Owusu is also on trial for allegedly helping to get the money to Bissue.

Additionally, he faces multiple charges of public official corruption and receiving bribes to influence public officials.

The charge sheet was submitted to the Accra High Court on Monday, April 28, 2025, and was signed by Dr. Isidore Tufuor, the OSP’s Director of Prosecutions.
