The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry has been urged by a seven-person delegation of Chinese businessmen and representatives from Zhenjiang Gongshang University to investigate prospects for increased trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Ghana and China.
Professor Haoxing Zhao, the creator of China-Africa Bridge and dean of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Research Institute, headed the group that paid a visit to the ministry in Accra on Monday, July 27.
According to Professor Zhao, the tour was intended to foster collaborations between Chinese businesses, academic institutions, and Ghanaian organisations as well as to improve commercial connections between the two nations.
He mentioned that the team wanted to collaborate with Ghana to build an industrial park that would promote the growth of industry, education, and entrepreneurship.
The visit was a reflection of Ghana’s longstanding relationship with China, according to Hon. Sampson Ahi, Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, who met the delegation on the Hon. Minister’s behalf.
He added that the administration was still dedicated to strengthening bilateral cooperation with China and that the two nations had maintained close ties for 66 years.
Additionally, Hon. Ahi praised the Chinese government’s zero-tariff plan, saying it will provide Ghanaian companies more chances to enter the Chinese market.
He highlighted Ghana’s strategic location as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat’s host, making the nation a vital entry point to the continent’s larger market.
“Your investment will be safeguarded. He reassured the delegation, “We are prepared for business and we will support you as a government.”
The visit is a component of ongoing measures for Ghana-China collaboration, such as the “Ghana Day” celebration in Hangzhou and the creation of the Ghana-Hangzhou Economic and Trade Center, which aims to link Ghanaian companies, goods, and creative projects with the Chinese market.
