The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has paid GH¢2.3 billion to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), fulfilling its mandatory payment obligations for the 2026 financial year.

COCOBOD disclosed that it settled GH¢2,306,202,372.09 to holders of bonds affected by the government’s domestic debt restructuring programme.

The latest payment brings the cocoa regulator’s total payments to DDEP bondholders in 2026 to approximately GH¢2.68 billion.

COCOBOD DDEP Payments Reach GH¢2.68 Billion

The latest GH¢2.3 billion payment follows an earlier coupon payment of GH¢376.33 million made in March 2026.

According to COCOBOD, the payments form part of its broader efforts to meet its financial obligations, improve financial management and strengthen the long-term financial sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector.

The latest development is expected to provide further clarity on COCOBOD’s financial commitments under Ghana’s domestic debt restructuring programme.

COCOBOD Settles GH¢162 Million Cocoa Bills Debt

In addition to the DDEP-related payments, COCOBOD revealed that it has also fully settled GH¢162 million owed to Cocoa Bills holders who did not participate in the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme.

The payment was completed in July 2026, bringing an end to the Board’s outstanding financial obligations to the affected non-DDEP Cocoa Bill holders.

COCOBOD said the settlement demonstrates its commitment to meeting its financial responsibilities and ensuring that outstanding obligations are addressed systematically.

Ghana Cocoa Sector Strengthens Financial Management

COCOBOD said the combined payments reflect its commitment to responsible financial management and the systematic settlement of its debts.

The Board’s latest financial update comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen the financial position of Ghana’s cocoa industry, which remains a major contributor to the country’s export earnings and agricultural economy.

The completion of the 2026 DDEP payment obligations represents an important financial milestone for COCOBOD as it continues to manage its debt commitments while supporting the development of Ghana’s cocoa sector.
