The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, received a working visit from Compassion International Ghana (CIGH), a Christian non-profit dedicated to the holistic development of children and youth.
The delegation took advantage of the occasion to congratulate the Minister on her appointment and talk about ways to further the organization’s partnership with the Ministry. It was led by Mr. Kobina Yeboah Okyere, its National Director.
Mr. Okyere thanked the Ministry and CIGH for their long-standing partnership, pointing out that the organization’s goal of making sure children are raised in safe and nurturing environments depends heavily on cooperation with the government.
Key topics of discussion during the meeting included case management and child protection, as both sides recognized the significance of coordinating efforts to advance the welfare of children who are at risk.

In addition to highlighting the organization’s work with 418 church partners in 12 areas, which has reached over 99,000 children and teenagers since 2005, the CIGH team underlined the necessity of fortifying government-civil society collaborations in order to attain long-term social protection results.
Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, for her part, expressed her gratitude for the ongoing collaboration and discussed the Ministry’s intentions to expand child-focused activities nationwide.
She also emphasized how the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) policy, which aims to support integrated early childhood development, was recently approved by the Cabinet.
The Minister acknowledged the critical role caregivers play in a child’s development and underlined the significance of supporting both children and caregivers.
