Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the representative for Bosomtwe, has warned farmers against keeping their kids home from school.

He argued that every child should receive an education in order to equip them with the necessary skills and information to succeed in whatever endeavors they pursue after school.

Additionally, he urged all parents to show a genuine interest in their kids’ education by visiting them at school, where they could talk to the teachers and inspire them to do more for both their students and the country as a whole.

On National Farmer’s Day last Friday, Dr. Adutwum issued the warning in Oyoko, in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region.

The purpose of the day was to honor all farmers in Ghana and to give prizes to ten worthy farmers, agricultural extension officials, and other individuals.

Mohammed Seidu, 42, a resident of Jachie and a native of Goru in the Upper East area, was recognized as the district’s overall best farmer for 2022 during the ceremony.

He received a certificate, a tricycle, five cutlasses, a pair of Wellington boots, four bags of compost organic fertilizer, a knapsack sprayer, insecticides, and weedicides, among other things, as part of his award.

During the event, honors were given to nine additional farmers, extension agents, and organizations, among others, for their contributions to the advancement of agriculture in the district and the nation.
Prizes such wheelbarrows, cutlasses, fertilizer, knapsack sprayers, wellington booths, and other gifts were given to the winners.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum thanked farmers in the nation for their contribution to delivering food and other agricultural goods to feed the populous, as well as for export and supplying raw materials to industry.

Dr. Adutwum, who also serves as the country’s Minister of Education, made a plea to farmers to support the many government intervention initiatives that have been developed to assist in revitalizing the country’s agricultural sector.

Mr. Eric Fofie, the director of agriculture for the Bosomtwe District, described the numerous government initiatives that were being carried out there while assuring all farmers in the area that his office was prepared to continue assisting them.

He urged farmers to use the services of Agricultural Extension Officers in their communities to increase their output and income for both personal gain and the benefit of the national coffers.

Mr. Joseph K. Asumin, the district chief executive for Bosomtwe, promised to keep providing the inputs and other resources required to support the growth of agriculture in the district and the country at large.

He warned farmers against poor agricultural methods that not only reduce farm output but also have a severe influence on the environment and local residents’ quality of life.

A team of staff from the Kuntanase Government hospital worked with the Bosomtwe District assembly to use the occasion to educate the public on the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The staff at the farmer’s day emphasized the necessity for people to voluntarily go to any health center for testing to know one’s status so the problem may be treated if found to be positive. This was in keeping with the district’s commemoration of the World Aids Day.
