The DVLA has been evicted from its Kuntunse office after 17 years of unpaid rent and utility bills, leaving drivers in surrounding areas stranded.

An expatriate landlord has evicted the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) from his property in Kuntunse after the agency allegedly failed to pay rent and utility bills for 17 years.

Sources at the DVLA told GHOne News that the eviction followed the CEO’s failure to engage the landlord to resolve the matter, prompting him to order an immediate evacuation.

The landlord, who uses the facility as a vehicle inspection garage, reportedly bore the cost of fuel during power outages and other maintenance expenses for years without support from the DVLA.

Following the eviction, the DVLA has reportedly relocated some of its operations to an undisclosed location.

The move is expected to disrupt services, potentially leaving thousands of drivers in Amasaman, Kuntunse, and neighboring areas stranded.
