The Electoral Commission (EC) said earlier today that the 2023 Voters Registration Exercise would not be postponed.
The exercise, which started on September 12th, 2023, came to an official close at 5 p.m. today, Monday, October 2nd, 2023.
This announcement was predicted to cause eligible voters who haven’t registered to vote to hurry to do so.
Fears exist that some eligible individuals may not have been captured.
The Commission has assured the general public that plans have been made to accommodate such people, nonetheless.
Only qualifying candidates who were in line at or before 5 p.m. today, Monday, October 2, 2023, were confirmed by the Commission to be registered tomorrow, Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
The Commission made it clear that this offer is only valid for anyone who haven’t registered yet and are in line before 5 o’clock; it does not apply to people who arrive after that time.
The General Public was thanked by the Electoral Commission for their assistance and support in making the 21-day Voters Registration Exercise a success.

As the general elections of 2024 draw nearer, it is critical that eligible persons who have not yet registered make use of the remaining time to obtain their voter identification cards.
There will not be any extension of the exercise, according to the Electoral Commission.
