The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Board Chair, Mr. Keli Gadzekpo, has resigned, effective April 9, 2024, indicating personal reasons in his letter to President Akufo-Addo.
Mr. Gadzekpo wished the administration and the state power distributor luck in their endeavors to deliver steady electricity in the midst of the nation’s energy sector crisis.
Then-Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko named Mr. Gadzekpo to the board in 2017.
His departure comes at the same time that the country’s power crisis is getting worse, prompting the minority group in parliament and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission to call for the release of a load-shedding schedule.
The Minister of Energy, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, recently declared that those calling for a schedule for load shedding are wishing bad things for Ghana.
