Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has reassured stakeholders and customers that its metering and billing systems adhere to stringent national and international standards, in response to recent concerns expressed by certain prepaid customer.

Dr. Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, General Manager for External Communications, responded to a news statement from the power Company of Ghana by confirming that all power meters installed nationwide underwent stringent testing and calibration procedures prior to installation.

He clarified that ECG’s quality assurance program complied with recognised national and international standards, emphasising that the business ran a cutting-edge metering laboratory on par with top facilities across the globe.

Dr. Ayiku further revealed that before installation, each meter underwent independent testing and certification by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) to guarantee adherence to specified technical specifications.

He agreed that some consumers might have valid worries about invoicing while retaining faith in the precision and dependability of ECG’s meters.

According to a mandate from the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, he said, the corporation has started looking into all situations that have been reported.

ECG has formally asked the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) to independently and randomly choose meters for testing in the field and in the lab as part of measures to improve openness and public trust.

He mentioned that the results of the independent evaluation would be included in a report that would be given to the Minister.

ECG reaffirmed its dedication to providing timely and responsible services and urged clients to keep working with the business while investigations are ongoing.
