Evaluation of Walewale’s Curfew and the Environment in the Northeast

On the recommendation of the North East Regional Security Council, the Interior Minister has revised the curfew hours for Walewale and the surrounding area in the North East Region to run from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025.

Chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and local residents are urged by the government to employ non-violent methods to focus their energies on maintaining peace and to display restraint when faced with obstacles.

All individuals in the aforementioned communities and their surrounding areas are strictly prohibited from possessing firearms, ammunition, or any other type of offensive weapon; those detected in possession of such items will face arrest and legal action.
