In Luke: 7: 23 Jesus said “Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” Amen

John the Baptist was a direct relative of our Lord Jesus. They also had an encounter at the Jordan where John saw the heavens open, a dove descending on our Lord, and a strong voice saying “this is my beloved Son in whom I’m well pleased”.

John even told Peter and Andrews that Jesus was the “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world”.

OF COURSE JOHN KNEW PERFECTLY WELL WHO JESUS WAS! When he sent messengers in Luke 7: 19b, to ask Jesus, “Are you the One who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”_, *HE WAS NOT IMPLYING HE DID NOT KNOW WHO JESUS WAS. HE WAS INDIRECTLY ACCUSING JESUS OF NEGLECT.* He had been in prison for a while, and Jesus had neither visited nor sent a message of empathy. *John was hurt!*

His disciples had reported to him how Jesus was helping others, and he was offended that Jesus would not say or do anything about his “situation”.

Jesus, knowing what John was implying, informed the messengers to go and report to John what they see and hear Him do. The blind were receiving their sight, the lame were walking, those who had leprosy had been cleansed, the deaf were hearing, the dead were being raised, and the good news was being proclaimed to the poor. (Luke 7: 22b)

Then Jesus made a profound statement; *”Blessed is the one who is not offended on account of me”.*

Beloved, God remains God whether we agree or not. He is good and does what is good. His ways are not our ways, neither are His thoughts ours! We must Stop fighting God for not doing what we feel He should have done. We must stop threatening to leave the faith if we don’t get our breakthrough by end of year. We must stop murmuring that God did not do right just because we saw Him bless others, and you feel it should have been us.

Why should you be offended in God? Why should you stumble on account of Him? Where is the supreme court that will judge your lawsuit against the Lord? Who is the Judge so worthy to convict and sentence the Lord for you?

Please stop begrudging God and know He’s working things out for you. His love for you is stronger than death. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved. Hold on a little bit longer, and trust Him as FAITHFUL. Let us pray asking for a heart that can trust God’s sovereignty even with the odds against us. Our God will surely come and save us. But even if not, we still must honour Him as God. HIS WILL MUST BE DONE!

Do you feel offended by God? Blessed are those who do not stumble on account of Him. The word of God, a great week to all of us.
