The Ghana-Zambia Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC) successfully convened its second session from October 29–31, 2025, in Lusaka, Republic of Zambia.
The gathering provided a crucial forum for assessing the two nations’ bilateral ties and looking into fresh opportunities for fruitful collaboration.
The Senior Officials’ Meeting, which took place on October 29 and 30, 2025, conducted a thorough evaluation of the advancements made since the PJCC’s first meeting in Accra in April 2023.
On October 31, 2025, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson (MP), Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, and Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, SC, MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Zambia, co-chaired the Ministerial Session, which was guided by a thorough report of their discussions.
Both parties reiterated during the meeting their mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation in important areas such as trade and investment, mining, energy, defence, agriculture, education, youth and sports, and science and technology, among others.
The Ministers discussed how current Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were being implemented and decided on doable steps to improve coordination and speed up development under the various cooperation frameworks.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Quayson expressed gratitude to the Zambian government and people for the kind hospitality shown to the Ghanaian team and praised the atmosphere of cooperation and respect that pervaded the discussions.
He reiterated Ghana’s willingness to collaborate closely with Zambia to turn the PJCC’s conclusions into real outcomes that benefit both countries’ citizens.
The successful conclusion of the PJCC’s second session represents another significant turning point in Ghana and Zambia’s long-standing and historic collaboration, which is based on a shared vision for regional integration, peace, and sustainable development as well as Pan-African ideals.
