Ghana has presented three investment-ready climate projects valued between US$135 million and US$175 million to Chinese investors and technology providers as the country steps up efforts to attract funding for green industrialisation, climate-smart agriculture, carbon finance and sustainable infrastructure.

The projects were unveiled by the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Seidu Issifu, during the Global South Perspective panel at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2026 in Beijing, China.

The presentation forms part of Ghana’s broader strategy to transform its Climate Prosperity Plan into concrete investment opportunities capable of supporting economic growth while addressing the challenges posed by climate change.

Ghana targets climate investment and green development

The government is seeking to mobilise both domestic and international capital to finance projects that can promote sustainable economic development, climate resilience and green industrialisation.

The three projects presented to Chinese investors are expected to create opportunities for cooperation in areas including clean energy, sustainable agriculture, carbon markets, climate finance and environmentally friendly infrastructure.

The initiative is also intended to strengthen Ghana’s ability to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) into climate-related sectors while supporting the country’s transition towards a more sustainable and resilient economy.

Ghana engages Chinese investors on climate finance

Speaking at the CIFTIS 2026 event, Minister Seidu Issifu highlighted the importance of international partnerships in mobilising the financial resources and technology required to implement Ghana’s climate ambitions.

The engagement with Chinese investors and technology providers provides an opportunity for Ghana to showcase investment-ready climate projects and explore partnerships that can accelerate the implementation of sustainable development initiatives.

China remains an important partner for developing countries seeking access to investment, technology and expertise to support green infrastructure and climate-smart economic growth.

Climate Prosperity Plan drives investment agenda

Ghana’s presentation is part of efforts to move the Climate Prosperity Plan beyond policy commitments and into actual projects capable of attracting private-sector financing.

The plan seeks to align climate action with economic development by creating investment opportunities in sectors that can generate jobs, strengthen resilience and promote environmentally sustainable growth.

The focus on green industrialisation, climate-smart agriculture, carbon finance and sustainable infrastructure reflects Ghana’s efforts to position climate action as an important component of its long-term economic strategy.

CVF, V20 and China strengthen climate cooperation

The high-level discussions took place under the theme, “Mobilising Investment for Energy Security and Climate Prosperity.”

The dialogue brought together representatives of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), the Vulnerable Twenty Group (V20) and China to discuss strategies for increasing investment in climate-vulnerable economies.

For Ghana, the engagement provides an avenue to attract international climate finance and technology while strengthening cooperation on energy security, climate resilience and sustainable economic development.

The presentation of the three projects signals Ghana’s determination to convert its climate policies into bankable investment opportunities and deepen international partnerships to finance the country’s green transformation.
