Herbert Krapa is named the new ECG board chair by Akufo-Addo.

Herbert Krapa, the Deputy Minister for Energy, has been named by President Akufo-Addo as the next Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

Following Keli Gadzekpo’s resignation on Tuesday, March 26, for personal reasons, this appointment has been made.

One of Mr. Krapa’s responsibilities is to oversee the ECG Board’s response to the nation’s recent spike in power disruptions.

There has been increasing pressure on the ECG because of what many believe to be a return of the crippling power outages, or “dumsor.”

Even though Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the minister of energy, denied that dumsor will return, there has been a lot of public pressure on ECG to create a schedule that will help people organize their daily schedules.
