The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted 25 police personnel in recognition of their outstanding performance, bravery and contribution to the fight against crime in Ghana.

The officers were rewarded for their involvement in successful police operations across the Bono East, Tema and Western Central Police Regions, including major robbery investigations and the interception of suspected cocaine at the Tema Harbour.

Police Officers Rewarded for Robbery Arrests

Some of the promoted personnel played key roles in the arrest of six suspects allegedly connected to a robbery in which approximately GH¢300,000 was reportedly stolen from a victim.

The incident occurred along the Portor-Kawempe stretch of the Kintampo-Buipe Highway on July 19, 2026.

Other officers were recognised for helping to arrest four suspected members of a robbery syndicate allegedly linked to a violent robbery at Wassa Akropong in the Tarkwa area.

The police operations resulted in the arrest of suspects believed to be involved in serious robbery-related offences.

Officers Recognised for Tema Harbour Cocaine Interception

The promotions also followed the recent interception of 866 parcels of suspected cocaine at the Tema Harbour, one of Ghana’s major ports.

The drug interception is being viewed as an important achievement in the fight against drug trafficking and organised crime in Ghana.

The successful operation involved police personnel who contributed to detecting and stopping the suspected narcotics shipment.

The personnel promoted for their exceptional service include Chief Inspectors Bede Nwinbomeh and Joe Tetteh; General Sergeants Elijah Ndaga Yinimi and Kaifan Sulemanna; and General Corporals Owusu Ansah Evans and Tansang Jonathan.

Six additional police personnel were also promoted to their next ranks for their contribution to crime prevention and law enforcement.

Police Academy Opportunity for Two Chief Inspectors

As part of the recognition, Chief Inspectors Bede Nwinbomeh and Joe Tetteh have been granted automatic entry to the Police Academy.

The move forms part of efforts to encourage professional development and reward police officers who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their duties.

IGP Commends Police Personnel

The promotions were based on the officers’ dedication, professionalism, courage and commitment to maintaining law and order.

IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) congratulated the promoted officers and encouraged them to maintain high standards of professionalism and discipline.

The IGP assured personnel of the Ghana Police Service that the police administration would continue to recognise and reward officers whose hard work and exceptional performance contribute to the fight against crime.

The latest promotions are expected to motivate more police officers to strengthen their efforts against robbery, drug trafficking, organised crime and other criminal activities across Ghana.
