Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a former minister of the environment, science, technology, and innovation, has declared his willingness to appear before the special prosecutor (SP) in connection with his assertions and charges that some government appointees are engaged in galamsey.
The former chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining issued a statement on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in which he stated: “Earlier today, I received a letter from the Office of the Special Prosecutor inviting me to assist the Office, as a person necessary for the investigation into suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses in respect to the activities and expenditures of the disbanded Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).”
I explicitly stated that I would like to accept the offer and assist the OSP in its activities.
