The Consumer Protection Agency has stated that it is “illegal” to charge Ghanaian passengers $50 more for tickets.

In a statement, the CPA claimed that British Airways’ “illegal” practice of accepting cash payments for aircraft tickets at Standard Chartered Bank had come to its attention.

According to the organization, “BA and Standard Chartered Bank have decided to charge $50 for paying off your ticket at their branches. This is an illegal practice, and we are urging BA to stop right away.”

The statement stated that if BA and Standard Charted Bank have entered into an agreement, travellers of BA should not be required to pay any additional fees above the reservation fee.

According to our analysis, BA gave Standard Charted Bank the order to tack on this absurd $50 surcharge to your ticket price.

Anyone who has paid the additional $50 to Standard Charted Bank should get in touch with CPA right now so we can help them secure a refund.
