The Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) Commissioner-General (CG) has declared the end of the Committee’s inquiry into the transit trucks that were recently intercepted and outlined the Authority’s next course of action.
The Commissioner-General gave an update on the situation, stating that eighteen trucks were stopped in the Kpone area along the freeway. A committee was formed to thoroughly re-examine the cargo at the Tema Transit Area after the interception.
The committee’s investigation revealed a number of grave infractions, such as the use of forged trade documents, differences between the declared and actual quantities and descriptions of the goods, inaccurate tariff classifications, inconsistent consignee identities, and patterns of previous suspicious activity connected to the consignments.

The Commissioner-General declared that the captured commodities will be seized in accordance with the committee’s conclusions.
He further revealed that the stolen vegetable oil will be provided to the Ghana School Feeding Programme in order to benefit secondary schools throughout the nation, as directed by the Ministry of Finance.
The Commissioner-General reiterated GRA’s dedication to safeguarding public funds, bolstering border security, and guaranteeing that everyone engaged in Customs operations upholds the highest standards of honesty and compliance.
