The Ghana Chamber of Mines has welcomed the government-backed 12-month roadmap aimed at resolving the ongoing dispute involving Adamus Resources Limited, describing the agreement as an important step toward protecting jobs, investment and the future of one of Ghana’s major locally owned mining operations.

Under the agreement, a six-member joint management team will oversee a 12-month turnaround plan designed to restore the operations of the Adamus Resources mine and address outstanding challenges.

The Chamber of Mines said the collaborative approach between the government and Adamus Resources demonstrates a commitment to dialogue and could help restore investor confidence in Ghana’s mining sector after months of uncertainty.

Adamus Resources operates the Nzema Mine in Ghana’s Western Region and is among the country’s indigenous large-scale mining companies. The continued operation of the mine is important to employees, suppliers, businesses in host communities, government revenue and Ghana’s wider mining value chain.

The industry body commended Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah and the leadership of the Minerals Commission for helping facilitate the agreement. It also praised Adamus Resources for its constructive engagement in efforts to find a lasting solution to the dispute.

The Adamus Resources controversy has raised wider concerns about mining regulations, investment protection, outstanding liabilities and regulatory certainty within Ghana’s mining industry. The Chamber believes that successfully implementing the 12-month turnaround plan could provide a practical pathway for resolving these challenges.

According to the Chamber, the success of the roadmap will depend on transparency, accountability and all stakeholders fulfilling their commitments. It further called for outstanding liabilities to be addressed and the necessary investment secured to restore the mine and maintain sustainable operations.

The Ghana Chamber of Mines reaffirmed its readiness to support initiatives that protect mining jobs and investments, encourage responsible local participation and strengthen the contribution of the mining industry to Ghana’s economic development.

The development comes as Ghana intensifies efforts to attract new mining investment, increase local participation and ensure that existing productive mining assets continue to generate employment, government revenue and economic opportunities.
