President John Dramani Mahama has received five reports from a High-Level Committee of Experts established to prepare Ghana’s strategic agenda ahead of his expected 2027 African Union (AU) Chairmanship.
The committee was tasked with developing a comprehensive Strategy Document, Priority Pillars and Work Programme to guide President Mahama’s leadership of the African Union.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who chaired the committee, said it was an honour to formally present the reports to President Mahama at the Presidency on Friday and brief him on the key recommendations.
According to the minister, the extensive preparatory work is expected to support a transformative and impactful AU Chairmanship when President Mahama assumes the position in January 2027.
The committee expressed appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to Ghana’s role in advancing Africa’s development and conveyed its best wishes to President Mahama ahead of his tenure as African Union Chairperson.
The preparations are expected to focus on strengthening African unity, regional integration, economic development, peace and security, and sustainable growth across the continent.
